MAP is a global graduate student movement that aims to examine and address issues of minority participation – broadly construed – in academic philosophy. The Graduate Center MAP chapter was founded in 2013, and has been run by a collection of like-minded graduate students ever since. Our chapter has two guiding aims. First, we aim to promote both marginalized voices and ideas amongst our peer group – to make academic philosophy more hospitable to a broader range of graduate students. Second, we aim to promote and provide outreach to undergraduate students with an interest in philosophy, at the various CUNY colleges around NYC.
